Speedway Showdown is an exciting episode of the series Junkyard Wars which brings together teams from different racing leagues to create the ultimate race car. Teams from NASCAR the Indy Racing League and the NHRA have only ten hours to build cars that can perform well in a variety of races. These include a straight-line drag race a road course and a circular track race.
Each team is tasked to create a car that excels in three different races. First challenge is a short drag race over a quarter-mile stretch of track. Then a five-lap circuit on a winding road course follows. Finally the teams will participate in a 10-lap race on a half mile oval track. Results from The drag race and The road course will be combined to decide The starting positions for The last race.
Speedway Showdown mixes racing and engineering creating a thrilling and informative show for audiences. Participants must use their creativity and building skills to design and create competitive cars from the ground up. The challenge highlights how critical it is to work together and to come up with new ideas when facing obstacles.
