Introduction to Rummy

Rummy mixes card sorting and quick thinking. Players build sets of matching cards and runs in order. Each person aims to shed their hand before anyone else does. Two to six people can play. It fits in at a family night or a casual get together.

Deal ten cards to each player. The rest of the deck forms a face down stack. Flip one card to form the discard pile. On a turn a player draws from the stack or grabs the top discard. The player lays down any valid sets or runs and discards one card to end the turn.

A player clears every card. The draw pile can run out of cards and that action ends the hand. Each player adds up the points left in hand and the lowest total wins. Players rely on memory. They need some luck. Each deal feels different and the rules stay simple.
